There comes a point in almost every healing journey where we quietly ask ourselves, “Will I ever fully get there? Will I ever find freedom from fear or anxiety?”
Maybe you’ve been working on your anxiety for years. Maybe you’ve learned healthier boundaries, grown in your faith, or experienced incredible healing—but you still have difficult days. You still find yourself wrestling with old fears or feeling discouraged when life gets hard.
When that happens, it’s easy to wonder if you’re making enough progress.
But what if freedom was never meant to be a finish line?
What if freedom is something we experience as we continue walking with God, one faithful step at a time?
We Love the Idea of Arrival
Our culture celebrates before-and-after stories.
We love dramatic transformations. We admire overnight success. We want to believe there’s a point where we’ll finally have everything figured out. Things being perfect.
Even in our faith, we sometimes imagine that spiritual maturity means never struggling again.
But that’s not the picture we see in Scripture.
The Christian life has always been described as a journey.
We walk by faith.
We follow Jesus.
We continue growing.
Notice that each of those words implies movement—not arrival.
God Is More Interested in Walking With You Than Rushing You
One of the most comforting truths in Scripture is that God doesn’t wait for us at the finish line.
He walks with us along the way.
He’s present on the joyful days.
He’s present on the anxious days.
He’s present when we feel confident.
And He’s just as present when we feel uncertain.
Sometimes we become so focused on who we’re trying to become that we miss the God who is faithfully walking beside us today.
Healing isn’t about earning His presence.
It’s about learning to recognize it.
Freedom Looks Different Than We Often Expect
Many people imagine freedom as the complete absence of struggle.
But biblical freedom isn’t the absence of difficulty.
It’s the presence of hope in the middle of difficulty.
Freedom is noticing an anxious thought without believing it.
It’s setting a healthy boundary without apologizing for having one.
It’s choosing grace over shame after making a mistake.
It’s returning to God instead of running from Him.
Those moments may seem ordinary, but they are evidence that your heart is being transformed.
Growth Doesn’t End Because You’re Still Learning
One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is permission to keep growing.
Not because we’re trying to earn God’s approval.
But because we already have it.
The beautiful thing about following Jesus is that He never grows impatient with our progress.
He isn’t keeping score.
He isn’t comparing your journey to anyone else’s.
He’s inviting you to continue trusting Him today.
Then tomorrow.
And the day after that.
You Don’t Have to Walk Alone
Sometimes we assume asking for help means we’re failing.
In reality, reaching out for support is often a sign of wisdom.
Whether that’s meeting with a trusted friend, joining a small group, talking with a counselor, or taking intentional steps to renew your thinking, God often uses community as part of our healing.
If you’re ready to continue that journey, The Mindset Miracles Course was created to help you renew your mind through biblical truth and practical encouragement. It’s designed for people who want to move away from fear, shame, and striving and toward the freedom Christ offers—one step at a time.
And if you’re looking for more personalized support, counseling can also provide a safe place to process your story, learn new tools, and continue growing without the pressure of having to “arrive.”
As we wrap up this series, I hope there’s one truth you’ll carry with you:
- You do not have to arrive to be deeply loved by God.
- You don’t have to earn His grace.
- You don’t have to hurry your healing.
- You don’t have to pretend you’ve got it all together.
Freedom isn’t found at the end of your journey.
It’s found in walking with Jesus today.
One step.
One prayer.
One act of trust at a time.
Because the God who began a good work in you is still faithfully carrying it forward. And He isn’t finished yet.
Recognizing a harmful narrative is the first step. Learning how to unlearn it is the next.

If this post resonated with you, I hope you’ll remember this:
Freedom from anxiety isn’t found in reaching a finish line—it’s found in learning to faithfully take the next step, again and again.
Maybe you’ve been discouraged because you thought you’d be further along by now.
Maybe you’ve mistaken a difficult day for a lack of progress.
Or maybe you’ve found yourself wondering why fear still feels so convincing, even though you know what’s true.
The truth is, lasting change rarely happens in one moment. It happens as we begin recognizing the beliefs we’ve been carrying and intentionally replacing them with God’s grace and truth, one step at a time.
