Hello, friend! I am a licensed therapist dedicated to supporting clients from both FL and MA. I grew up in MA but I have lived in FL for the last several years with my two adorable dogs and loving husband. I specialize in helping individuals with anxiety, depression and those navigating codependency. I also enjoy providing therapy for therapists.
Looking into therapy can be intimidating and there are often many questions.
Let’s talk about 5 common questions …
5 Common questions about therapy
1. Why Don’t A lot of Therapists Take Insurance?
It’s a great question and one that comes up frequently. While many therapists don’t directly bill insurance, there’s a reason for it.
Our focus is on providing the highest quality care tailored to your unique needs. This means we can fully concentrate on your journey without the restrictions that insurance can sometimes place on sessions and treatment approaches such as:
- Insurance companies require that you meet “medical necessity” as well as specific criteria for a diagnosis of a mental disorder, which is often not needed or relevant to our work.
- You won’t have a diagnosis label permanently attached to your medical record.
- Your records are protected, which means that very personal information about you cannot be obtained by your insurance company.
- Rather than your care being dictated by your insurance company, you and I can work collaboratively on a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs.
- The possibility of clawbacks, in which insurance companies audit providers and decide not to pay them for services already rendered generally because of a documentation technicality.
This is an area in which there is always a tension between caring for myself, protecting client’s confidentiality, and making services accessible for clients. I do partner with some insurance companies and if I am not in-network with your insurance company, I can provide you with the necessary documentation to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement if you have Out of Network (OON) benefits. You’ll find more info on my rates on this page.
2. Are You Nervous in Our First Meeting?
Starting therapy can be nerve-wracking, and it’s completely okay to wonder if I, as your therapist, or any therapist, might be a bit nervous too. Rest assured, my priority is to create a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment.
I’m here to listen, understand, and support you – not to judge or critique. Your comfort and well-being are my utmost concern, and our first meeting is about establishing a foundation of trust.
And if I’m being 100% truthful sometimes I am a little nervous, just in the way that meeting anyone new can be but I would chalk most of those nerves up to excitement. I truly believe it is the honor of my career to walk along side so many of God’s people in some of their hardest seasons. I am truly excited about the work we will do and break throughs we will see!
3. How Does Biblically-Based CBT Work?
Biblically-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a powerful blend of psychological techniques and scriptural truths. We’ll explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and integrate timeless wisdom from scripture to guide our approach.
This well researched approach shows the relationship between our thoughts, emotions and actions. It urges us to question our thoughts deeper and provides us with a strategy to…

“..demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 10:5
This combination helps you discover practical tools to manage anxiety while drawing strength from your faith. It has been tested and found effective on many different diagnoses, I specialize in using it for anxiety, depression and codependence.
