As a Christian therapist who specializes in helping clients with anxiety, depression, and codependency through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and faith-based counseling, I’m constantly on the lookout for tools and items that can enhance the well-being of my clients and my own personal life. Here are 7 useful things I use in my home and office everyday.

While these items are by no means necessary for a peaceful heart or home, they have been invaluable in fostering an atmosphere of peace, routine, and productivity in my practice, routine and home.

I want to share my seven favorite things with you, not only as a glimpse into my therapeutic toolkit but also as a reminder that small changes can make a big difference in your journey towards healing.

7 Useful Things I Use in My Home and Office Everyday:

1. The Psalms in Color

There’s something profoundly soothing about coloring, especially when it involves the Psalms. These beautifully illustrated coloring books provide a creative way to meditate on Scripture while calming your mind. As a therapist, I often recommend these to my clients as a therapeutic activity that combines mindfulness and faith.

Personally, I was finding that I would turn on the TV at night and ‘zone out’. This never left me refreshed and I often was inundating myself with more noise, information, stimuli etc. A few months ago I started leaving the TV off and coloring instead. I’ve noticed more peace and relaxation from this simple shift in nighttime routine!

2. Favorite Markers

Coloring is even more enjoyable with high-quality markers. The vibrant colors can elevate your experience and make the process more engaging. Investing in a good set of markers is a small step towards self-care and finding joy in the simple things. I like these because the offer flexibility in size!

4. Favorite Diffuser Oil

The choice of diffuser oil can have a profound impact on the atmosphere. Opt for scents like lavender, eucalyptus, or chamomile to promote relaxation and stress relief. It’s amazing how a simple fragrance can help set the tone in your home! I prefer these because they’re organic and promise to be free of harmful chemicals.

5. A Great Workbook to Do with Your Little One Navigating Anxiety

Anxiety can affect not only adults but also children. In fact, I see a lot of parents who ask for support with their kiddos too! This workbook is a fantastic resource for parents who want to help their little ones navigate anxious thoughts and feelings. Incorporating faith-based principles into the process can provide a strong foundation for resilience.

7. Meal Prep Containers

Proper self-care goes beyond therapy sessions. Encouraging clients to maintain a healthy routine includes nutritional wellness. Meal prep containers help streamline meal planning, making it easier for individuals to prioritize their health amid their busy lives. Even with so many working from home preparing your meals in advance helps you stick to routine and reduce stress at lunch time about what you’re going to make!

I personally use these as I meal prep for the week.
