✨You’re allowed to enjoy a season without trying t ✨You’re allowed to enjoy a season without trying to squeeze absolutely everything out of it.✨ There can be so much pressure around this time of year to make the memories, attend the things, decorate the house, prepare for the holidays, keep everyone happy... and somehow also slow down and enjoy it. Which is a little ironic. 😂 Maybe a peaceful season isn’t one where everything gets done. Maybe it’s one where you’re a little more intentional about what actually matters to you and your family—and a little more willing to let the rest be optional. ✨You can love Jesus and still have a nervous syste ✨You can love Jesus and still have a nervous system that gets overwhelmed.✨ Anxiety doesn’t automatically mean you aren’t praying enough, trusting enough, or believing the right things. Sometimes your body is responding to stress, past experiences, or something it has learned to recognize as unsafe. And caring for that part of yourself doesn’t have to compete with your faith. You can pray and practice coping skills. You can trust God and go to counseling. You can know what’s true and acknowledge that your body is having a hard time believing it right now. ✨Friendly reminder: you do not have to become real ✨Friendly reminder: you do not have to become really good at healing from performance.✨ Because wouldn't that be just like us? We recognize the pressure we’ve been putting on ourselves…and immediately create a new goal of becoming perfectly rested, perfectly secure, perfectly boundaried people who never overthink anything again. 😅 But that misses so much of what we’ve been talking about. Healing can be slower and gentler than that. It can look like noticing an old pattern without immediately judging yourself for it. Letting yourself rest without proving you’ve earned it. Receiving grace when you’d rather punish yourself. Trusting that God is still present when you aren’t accomplishing anything. ✨God really gave us a whole day of rest and we sti ✨God really gave us a whole day of rest and we still said, “Okay, but maybe I should be productive first.” 😂✨ Turns out resting isn’t something we have to earn after we’ve finally done enough. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is actually... stop. Consider this your reminder that rest is allowed. 💙 Rest is encouraged and the Lord gave the Israelites rest as a commandment when they left Egypt because he wanted them to rest in Him, to trust Him and to find their identity in Him - not in the slavery they've always known. And I submit to you that living lives consumed by productivity is slavery. ✨Consider this your reminder that self-care does n ✨Consider this your reminder that self-care does not have to be complicated, expensive, or another thing you have to be “good” at.✨ Sometimes caring for yourself really can look like putting on the comfy sweater, stepping outside for 20 minutes, meeting a friend for coffee, watching the comfort show, or giving yourself permission to put work away for the afternoon. Little things count, too.
